There was definitely a cinematic quality to Claire and Cahal’s beautiful winter wedding at Castle Leslie in Monaghan; a palpable Old Hollywood feel to proceedings. Maybe it was the black tie dress-code, or The Graduate-esque scarlet sports car. Or perhaps it was Claire’s stunning Riki Dalal dress: 80% timeless spellbinding glamour, 20% sparkly statement showstopper, with the percentages shifting to 50/50 when the evening reception got underway and she stepped onto the starlit dancefloor under festoons of classic white fairy lights. Just…wow.
Castle Leslie’s interiors are decadently opulent and full of quirky personality – oddly hung pictures, mismatched frames, grand fireplaces – and I found myself desperate to capture all of the sumptuous features as well as the brilliant bright white canvas of the marquee. Stand-out details? Those silver Jimmy Choos, Claire’s floaty lace morning gown and the pairing of red lips with the bridesmaids’ delicate oyster grey dresses. And standout shots? The Madonna blue-and-white entrance to the church, the auspicious gaze of the Child of Prague over Claire’s granny’s shoulder in the shots we got at her home and my ultimate favourite: the groom planting a kiss on the cheek of his radiant bride, eyes closed, hair wind-swept, with a smile that’s completely and utterly infectious.
I live for memorialising moments like this.
