I love weddings in Cork! There are so many stunning venues from Castlemartyr to Ballyvolane House and rigght up there as one of my favourites is Ballymaloe House, a unique country house experience. Ballymaloe House is also family run and you can really feel the personal touch across this Cork wedding venue.
Set in idyllic East Cork, the wedding venue is beyond romantic. The house is so charming and elegant and the Grainstore offers a beautiful space for your civil ceremony or wedding reception. But what I really love about Ballymaloe House is the fact that everything is so personal. From your flowers to your wedding cake the wedding team can take care of it all! And as food is what Balymaloe House is so well known for, you will be in for a real treat, especially if they make your wedding cake as well!
This was a special wedding. Just after Christmas it had that lovely seasonal vibe whether family and friends gather to celebrate. And Ballymaloe House offers the perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding. Claire, originally from Waterford married Chris from the UK and they brought all of their nearest and dearest to East Cork to celebrate with them Everyone got ready at Ballymaloe House and with Dawn of Dawn Hair Fairy on hair and Charlotte on makeup the grils were all so well looked after and looking amazing
Claire and Chris opted for a first look which worked out so well. Because of the time of year and possible bad weather, we planned ahead for Claire to wait for Chris in the main house to have a few special moments together before the ceremony. It was such a relaxed vibe and if there were any pre-wedding nerves, they definitely didnt show! For a first look you really just get swept away in the moment as a modern twist on a wedding day format, it definitely works! And we were spoiled with the stunning surrounds of the main house.
Ballymaloe House does wedding ceremonies so well. The ceremony room is decorated beautifully with an elegant but cosy feel. And as Claire and Chris exchanged vows in front of family and friends, the setting couldnt have been more perfect.
Claire and Chris’ drinks reception following their ceremony took place in the main house before everyone moved across to the Grainstore for the evening meal. Everyone chatted and mingled together. I love when 2 worlds meet and your wedding day really feels special for this reason. The people you know from all different parts of your life, who don’t normally meet are here in one place and it is always special when you see people who didn’t know each other before, chatting together and enjoying each others company. And as a former politics lecturer, a personal highlight for me was the fact that Sir Kier Starmer was one of the wedding guests. We had a very brief chat and he was so lovely.
