When it comes to wedding venues, it’s hard to top the charm of Wilton Castle, a Castle Wedding in Ireland. This historic gem has everything I could ask for as a wedding photographer in Wexford: timeless elegance, rich heritage, and picture-perfect surroundings. There’s even a personal historical connection for me here: one of my Colclough ancestors once challenged the original owner of Wilton Castle to a duel! Let’s just say, family drama aside, it’s always a special place to return to with my camera in hand.
Sarah and Craig’s wedding was no exception. Traveling all the way from the US with a small, close-knit group of family and friends, they chose this intimate castle setting for their dream day—and what a day it was.
Sarah and Craig’s day began with a relaxed morning, the kind that sets the tone for a truly meaningful celebration. Sarah got ready in Wexford town, so we decided before the formalities began, we would create some extra magic by capturing a few photos of just the two of them in the heart of Wexford.
Taking a stroll through the streets, Sarah and Craig embraced the moment, laughing and enjoying the surroundings. The colourful shopfronts and cobblestone streets were the perfect contrast to the elegance of Wilton Castle, giving their photographs an extra dimension. And of course, no Irish wedding morning would be complete without a stop for a pint of Guinness! Those photos, with Sarah and Craig laughing and toasting in a cozy pub, perfectly captured their fun-loving, adventurous spirit.
What a relaxed morning and day we had. My kind of wedding – with the focus on the marriage celebration and being thankful for the family and friends that were there to share in the day with them at their Wilton Castle wedding in Ireland. What it is all about after all.
