If you are searching for a Castle Durrow wedding photographer, Máire and Fintan’s beautiful winter wedding will give you plenty of inspiration. They celebrated their day just before Christmas, which gave everything a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Although the weather was wet, the day felt cosy and full of joy from start to finish. Most importantly, every location offered stunning backdrops for timeless photographs.
As a photographer based nearby, I know how special this venue is. Not only is it one of the most elegant wedding venues in Laois, but it also offers incredible variety for photographs.
Castle Durrow combines Georgian architecture, manicured gardens and peaceful countryside surroundings. As a result, couples enjoy a refined yet relaxed atmosphere throughout their wedding day.
Because I regularly photograph weddings in the Midlands, I understand how to make the most of this venue in every season.
Máire began her morning at her beautiful family home, located just beneath the iconic Rock of Cashel in Cashel. The setting felt incredibly personal and meaningful. As a result, the morning had a relaxed and emotional atmosphere.
Her hair was beautifully styled by Marie Hickey, who created an elegant and timeless look. Meanwhile, Edwina McGrath perfected Máire’s natural, radiant make-up.
Máire wore a stunning gown from The White Rooms, Mullingar. The dress suited both the winter setting and the classic style of the day. Soft light filled the house that morning, which allowed for natural, storytelling images before we left for the ceremony.
Máire and Fintan exchanged vows in the breathtaking Holy Cross Abbey, one of the most beautiful abbeys in Tipperary. The historic stonework and soaring arches created a truly atmospheric setting.
Although rain fell steadily outside, we embraced it. In fact, the covered cloister areas at Holy Cross Abbey provided the perfect shelter for couple portraits. The soft winter light combined with the stone arches created romantic, intimate images.
Wet weather often adds character to a winter wedding. Therefore, with a little creativity and calm planning, we captured portraits that felt cinematic and timeless.
After the ceremony, it was on to Castle Durrow for the celebrations. As a Castle Durrow wedding photographer, I always look forward to arriving at this elegant Georgian estate.
Castle Durrow is especially beautiful in winter. The warm interiors contrast perfectly with the moody December skies. As guests enjoyed their drinks reception, we explored the grounds briefly between showers. Even in wet conditions, the tree-lined avenue and covered entrance areas provide fantastic options for photographs.
Because I know the venue well, we moved efficiently and kept everything relaxed. That experience makes a real difference on unpredictable winter days.
Every detail of Máire and Fintan’s day was thoughtfully chosen.
Anna Conlon of videoproductions.ie captured the day seamlessly alongside me. Working with an experienced videographer ensures the atmosphere remains calm and coordinated.
The beautiful florals were created by Flowers by Luis. The arrangements complemented the winter tones perfectly and added softness to both the abbey and Castle Durrow’s reception rooms.
When couples choose experienced suppliers, the entire day flows naturally. As a result, it allows me to focus on genuine moments rather than staged ones.
