I loved everything about this Irish castle destination wedding at Kilkea Castle. Caitlin and Brennan’s wedding day has to be one of my favourites to date! Such a beautiful couple, a great team and a dreamy wedding venue all combined for a wedding day classic! Caitlin and Brennan came all the way from Washington for their destination wedding celebration in Ireland at Kilkea Castle. Caitlin’s mum and dad are Irish. And in a touching tribute to her Irish heritage and a close bond, it was Caitlin’s grandfather who walked her up the aisle in a stunning outdoor ceremony at this Irish castle.
Groom Getting Ready at Kilkea Castle
I spent part of the morning of the wedding with Brennan and his groomsmen. Capturing this time is so important. It gives the bride a glimpse into what the guys were up to as they got ready for the ceremony, and helps tell the full story of the day. It’s always such a fun, relaxed part of the wedding morning. Then it was back to the Caitlin and her girls for the rest of their preparations.
Caitlin was looked after with her hair by Shakira Clohessy. Her makeup was beautifully done by Makeup by Annemarie. Caitlin wore a georgeous Martina Liana gown from the iconic Kleinfeld Bridal. For those that dont know Kleinfeld Bridal is one of the most famous and iconic bridal salons in the world. It is a luxury wedding dress destination based in New York City. Kelinfeld Bridal is known especially for its huge selection of designer gowns and personalised bridal appointments. Also home to the TV show Say Yes to the Dress, it is where brides go to try on stunning wedding dresses and often find their dream dress.
Caitlins Stunning Bridal Look for their First Look
The real showstopper however was Caitlins cathedral length veil. It added a real drama to Caitlin and Brennan’s first look images. We stole away towards the river for their first look before the ceremony. With the castle as a backdrop it all came together beautifully. I just love this part of Kilkea Castle, especially the willow tree by the river.
An Outdoor Ceremony at Kilkea Castle
Before the ceremony Caitlin met with her Grandad who was going to walk her down the aisle. It was such a touching moment. The moment Caitlin walked down the aisle the heavens opened momentarily, the show went on, spirits weren’t dampened and the ceremony was just breathtaking. An outdoor ceremony at Kilkea Castle feels nothing short of timeless.
The romance of the castle grounds and the picturesque setting creates a sense of quiet grandeur. Yet thos grandeur is intimate at the same time. As vows were exchanged beneath open skies, the history of the castle made the moment feel deeply rooted and completely unforgettable. It’s a place where every glance, every promise, and every breath of fresh air becomes part of a story centuries in the making.
Irish Castle Destination Wedding at Kilkea Castle
The reception room was thoughtfully and beautifully styled by Kate Deegan of Perfect Details. A soft mix of white florals and candlelight filled the space. Thus creating an atmosphere that felt elegant, warm, and effortlessly inviting.

As guests gathered for dinner there was time for some couples portraits in the soft evening light, making use of the beautiful grounds at Kilkea Castle.
